Tracy’s Published: Health and Wellness Report - Facing Our Health & Wellness with Courage and Fortitude Equity Report

Tracy L. Brown, co-wrote and served as Lead Qualitative Researcher and co-lead Quantitative Research, to produce the 2023, “Facing Our Health and Wellness with Courage and Fortitude”, a Black / African-American health and wellness report for Washington State Commission on African-American Affairs and state legislators. The report is framed around the following five (5) determinants of health: 1) Access to Healthcare, which spotlights critical areas impacting healthy outcomes, including a call for competent and culturally-competent health providers, and the devastating deaths of Black / African American women and children, either during or within the first year of birth, 2) Education and Child Welfare, which spotlights the wide gaps of disparities and inequities in: a) pre-kindergarten, b) graduation rates, c) lack of culturally-competent curriculum, a call to reform special education, a continued discussion regarding the school-prison pipeline, and the high discipline and expulsion rate, 3) Economic Stability in Employment, Housing and Wealth, 4) Environmental Justice, and 5) Justice, Civil Rights and Safety.
